Climate control in a greenhouse is very complex. Horticulturists have many years of experience with this, yet the climate in a greenhouse cannot always be optimally controlled. It is also often difficult to find out what exactly is going wrong.

However, many horticulturists have a wealth of data on what is happening in their greenhouse. A lot of answers can be found in that data. Digitization and artificial intelligence (AI) provide new opportunities to analyze large amounts of data.
 
In general, greenhouse horticulture companies want more insight into climate control. Each grower has his own specific questions, but there are also a number of common needs:

  • Guidelines for optimal screen use
  • Guidelines for better ventilation
  • Understanding the relationship between plant and climate and preventing plant stress
  • Finding explanations for climate anomalies

By applying AI techniques to climate data, we can provide answers to these. Those answers are also validated with plant measurements. This allows the individual grower to detect climate anomalies and take actions to address them.

That will lead to more optimal planting conditions, energy savings and emission reductions.
